Internationally connected and with a global presence
Members of GEMA also have a strong international presence. We receive a large portion of the royalties for music use abroad through reciprocal agreements with over 80 sister societies worldwide. Last year, more than 90 million euros were distributed to our members through this channel.
Revenues are distributed regionally as follows: In Europe, 39 sister societies generate approximately 70 million euros. North America, with six societies, contributes EUR 13 million; Asia, with 13 societies, EUR 4 million; Australasia, with two societies, EUR 2 million; and Latin America, with 16 societies, also EUR 2 million. Africa, with seven sister societies, is below 1 million EUR.
These international revenues underscore GEMA’s global network and ensure our members receive a fair share of the use of their works worldwide.
